Goodman’s revised proposal still represents a £120 million investment in Andover creating over 2,000 jobs in total to meet the future employment needs of the town.
The key difference between the revised proposal and the recently approved scheme is that the 863,000 sq ft building would be replaced by:
- A 467,000 sq ft building to provide a regional distribution centre (RDC) for the Co-Operative Group
- A series of smaller buildings comprising units 6A – 6H on the masterplan
- The RDC would be 1 metre higher than the approved building and incorporates a 150,000 sq ft refrigerated storage facility located at its northern end
- The RDC would be served by only one access running parallel to the A303
Key components retained are:
- Highway infrastructure including the new Hundred Acre Interchange
- Acoustic treatment on the A303
- On site landscaping
- On site acoustic measures
- All obligations contained within the Section 106 agreement including the commitment to barred routes
Importantly, the agreement with the Co-operative Group and the delivery of the RDC, the key component of the development, will fund the supporting infrastructure and, by doing so, act as a catalyst for attracting further investment and employment to the site.
